Monday

Immerse yourself in nature and experience some of our stunning hiking trails. The Glaskogen Nature Reserve has 300 km of hiking trails of varying difficulty and length. If you want a walk fit for royalty, try Hertigparets Vandringsled in Byamossarna Nature Reserve. There are countless other walks to choose from in Arvika’s enchanting nature.

Tuesday

Your cultural day out starts at RackstadmuseetThere you can admire art, visit an artist’s home and stroll in a lovely garden. The museum has an inviting café with light lunches and delicious baked goods. Take a trip around Lake Racken to the area where the Rackstad Colony Artists worked. The Blå Lagårn art gallery beside the lake is an unmissable attraction. Back in town; stop by the iconic Arvika Vehicle Museum, where cars are also culture.

Wednesday

Spend a day exploring Arvika with its friendly small-town atmosphere, charming shops and cosy cafés. Every Wednesday is market day, with stalls brimming with vegetables, flowers, clothes, bric-a-brac and more. Stroll amongst the city’s beautiful buildings and public spaces. For a dedicated sightseeing walk, visit Arvika Tourist Office and pick up a map.  

Thursday

Spend the day at Sågudden Open Air Museum and in Arvika’s beautiful city park. At Sågudden, you can visit the main farmhouse, explore historic buildings and enjoy coffee and light refreshments at Kafé & Kök Nystuga. Arvika City Park is an urban oasis with its own unique pergola. On Thursdays in July, an evening show called “Summer in the park” is hosted by Johan Birgersson.

Friday

Explore Lake Glafsfjorden and Arvika’s surrounding countryside. Go south to the Klässbol Linen Weaving Mill to shop for award-winning textile products. If you’re there at midday, Kaffekvarnen serves delicious lunches. On Wednesdays in July, there are guided tours of Källarsgården in Glava, a historic farmhouse. On the way home, stop for a coffee at Älgå Heritage Centre, where you can visit a unique nail forge.

Summer 2020: Källarsgården and Älgå Heritage Centre is closed due to Covid-19, but you are still free to visit the outdoor areas.

Saturday

Arvika harbour is the city’s nightlife centre in the summer. People flock here in the evenings to eat and drink at the waterside restaurants and listen to music. Both Olssons Brygga and Barbord offers great food and drinks (the restaurants follow the guidelines set by the Public Health Agency of Sweden regarding Covid-19).

Sunday

Fresh air and outdoor activities are the best way to spend a Sunday, and there is plenty to do in the Ingestrand area. Choose between canoeinghot tub bathing, trying the high rope coursecykling, a boat ride, swimming in Lake Glafsfjorden, mini golfgold panning, forest walks or simply laying down and admiring the lakeside view at the beach with an ice cream.
